I made it...just under the wire!

I had three large projects that needed to be finished and ready for gifting by today.  I just finished up and I have now officially accomplished my goal with minutes to spare!  The photos are not what I like but the great cloud cover that we have been experiencing here in the past week or so makes it impossible to get a perfect shot.

 I am very pleased with how these three projects turned out.
First, The Weddin' Quilt...The ongoing project since earlier this year.  It will be given to the newlyweds tomorrow on their First Christmas together.  It is queen-size and very heavy, so it will be a great warm quilt.  I call this quilt "Katherine's Snowflake II".  It is a remake of the quilt I made for the bride when she was ten and it was used to death so I decided to recreate it in updated fabrics as a wedding gift.  During the wedding I had each guest sign a quilt block which I incorporated on the back of the quilt.  It is quite the keepsake quilt!  It has been through the washer and dryer and it is soft and cuddly as can be.  I was worried that such dense machine quilting in the centre portion of the quilt would make it un-cuddly but it turned out just great.  "Those who sleep under a quilt are comforted by love"

The second project that was completed is this wall hanging/table topper that I made for my Aunt/Godmother.  It is from the design called "The Beauty of Christmas" by Nova Scotia quilt designer, Karen Neary of Amherst.  This is the second time I have made this pattern.  The red fabric is so pretty in real life, it does not photograph well.  It has a shimmer of gold here and there.  I buttonhole stitched around the arcs with Wonderfil Metallic thread on top and DecoBob in the bobbin.  The background is stippled, the arcs are swirled and there is a continuous feather in the green border .  All freemotion quilted.  

The last project, finished in time for Christmas, was to fulfill my commitment to the Library Project organized by Adrienne @ Chezzetcook Modern Quilts  .  Lucky for me, I won the Challenge Grand Finale prize sponsored by Mad About Patchwork...a $75.00 gift certificate.  Needless to say I made an order and I can't wait to receive my fabrics in the mail.  

My daughter will be receiving this quilt to add to her collection of quilts I have made for her.

I spiralled away on all the white areas.

Now that I am caught up on my Must Finish It Before Christmas list...I can focus on baking cookies and making a turkey dinner and spending time with my awesome family.  

All the best at Christmas to everyone and I hope 2015 sees your UFO list getting shorter and shorter.  Yeah right!  That's not going to happen.
