It's Atlantic Canada Day on Blogathon Canada!

Blogathon Canada is visiting Atlantic Canada today!  Thanks so much to Sew Sisters for choosing me to be the host blogger for Nova Scotia, along with Linda from Stitch Lines who is your host for New Brunswick, P.E.I and Newfoundland.

Hello from Nova Scotia, Canada's Ocean Playground!  Halifax to be exact.  I could go on and on about my beautiful province but for today I am going to stick to where I grew up and where I live now.
I grew up in a small seaside village called Prospect.  about 25 minute drive south west of Halifax.  My ancestors grew up here too. My parents still live there, in the white house.

I now live in the city of Halifax with my RetiredHub, who spent almost 40 years in the Canadian Navy.

We have been married for 37 years. I have a daughter, 35 and twin sons , 31.  Still waiting for grandkids!

I started quilting over 20 years ago and haven't stopped. I started my blog back in February of 2008.  I have made many pieced bed quilts, all hand quilted and hand appliqued too. I have a ton of UFOs. Scrappy quilting is my main love.
A few years ago I fell in love with the new style of quilting, the modern quilting, improvisational piecing and free motion quilting, and just last year I joined the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild and have been even more inspired to create.

I even had my first pattern published recently, in the Fall issue of the Canadian quilting magazine, "Quilter's Connection"
What an amazing experience it was and who knows, it may not be the last.

The tabs under my header will take you to pages that show some of my quilts from over the past years, but for now I will show you my favourites.

"Roll, roll Cotton Boll" from a Bonnie Hunter design.  machine pieced and free motion quilted by me and  now lives in Qatar with my Quilty Sister

Spring Morning - handquilted by me and adorns the wall in my front entry
My Improv Quilt - an original design by Me , freemotion quilted by me

"Wonky Pegs" and original design by Me, freemotion quilted by Me

Made for my husband on his retirement in 2009.  An original design by Me and handquilted by Me
Here are  some other Nova Scotia blogs for you to visit. Stop by and say hello.  And I am happy to say that I have met most of these bloggers in real life and have made some lasting friendships.  That's the best part of blogging...making new friends!
