A productive snow day

I was house-bound yesterday, due to a blizzard.  I headed to my sewing room in the basement just after breakfast and finished sewing together the large blocks in my "Searching for Scraps" quilt top.  I need to get it basted now.  I also decided to finish a little project that I had started a while back. A coin purse for me.

It took me a few hours to finish that up.  So cute.  I used the pattern by Madame Samm.  Amazingly, I remembered from the last few purses that I made from this pattern, to cut the fusible fleece  a quarter of an inch smaller than the pieces used to construct the front and sides of the purse.  That way the bulk in the seam is diminished and makes for easier sewing.  I made the front and back from selvedges and the sides from Mirror Ball Dot in Lagoon.  The lining inside is MBD in Snow.     I also made a pincushion that I have been wanting to make for a while  A pattern by Heather Bailey.  . free pattern if you are interested in making one.

While playing around with my selvedge collection, I sewed up another 8 inch string square in different blue selvedges. No definite plan for these blocks yet.  I will just keep making them until inspiration strikes.

I also needed a new key fob, so I made a leaf shape from selvedges for the front and a MBD in pink on the back and just zigzagged around the edge.  Instant keyfob!  (I saw something similar on Pinterest that inspired me)

I was making good use of my new pincushion that my BQFF Kathy B. sent to me for Christmas.  I just love it so much. Thanks Kathy.
I spent until 9 pm in my sewing room, only coming upstairs for a few bathroom breaks and to make supper.   An awesome day!
