Christmas is over, all is quiet, except for the hum of my sewing machine. I just finished up the final block in my "Searching for Scraps" quilt top. (from the design "Soul Searching" by Kathy Doughty) I am not quite sure of the final arrangement but I am liking this one. (My large design wall is in a hallway so it is difficult to get a good full-on photo) When I posted about not having the scraps I wanted to work this project, I received a lovely package in the mail with just the strips I needed to finish up. Thank you so much Lesley. Also, with the suggestions from a few other blogging friends, I ended up piecing some of the strips to achieve the 2 1/2" width required. Worked out great. Don't get me wrong....I am not out of scraps....I was just having trouble not repeating a fabric and a bit of a problem with size...but.....I still have a ton of scraps. I think I will try Quilt-As-U-Go with this. More on that later.
Here is the apron I made for my sweet niece Katherine. She is a bit of a cowgirl, she owns her own horse, Liberty. So I knew she would love something made from pink John Deere fabric. I just love this apron design. It is called Retro Fun: Vintage style apron and here is the link. It was easy to make and I just love the grommets. I made it the opposite on the back so that she can just switch the neck tie and have it a reversible apron. I didnt add the pockets that were called for.
I also made her a cute potholder that she can use when she and I make cookies.
