What's going on Wednesday

I have been so busy at work the past two weeks.  I am filling in for two co-workers so my workload has increased.  Hopefully back to my normal schedule in two weeks.  On the plus side, more money for fabric!! And I am due for a "fabric run".  I have $100.00 saved in loonies and toonies and I need thread.  Meanwhile, I have spent time working on basting my RRCB. I am taking my time.  I decided to  hand baste and pin. While basting this quilt,  it is taking all my working space so I just throw a plastic tablecloth over it when I want to cut or create.  I am almost finished with the basting and I will soon be starting the FMQing.  This will be the largest quilt I have quilted on my machine.
I also started a new quilt along....New York Beauty blocks. I think NYB is my favourite quilt block.  I am using batiks and this is a good way to use up scraps.  Some quilters steer away from this awesome block because of the curved sewing that is required.  My method for success is the technique I learned while making a few of Karen Neary's patterns. And, of course, paper piecing.

I am so excited to have Quilt Canada in my city in May.  Well, excited isnt quite the word.  I don't belong to a guild or a group, Blogland is my inspiration.  So, to be able to be surrounded by the best in Canada for a few days is beyond thrilling for me.  So, I am working on an original little quilt to be part of the exposition of Nova Scotia quilters.  Here's a little peek at what I am working on.  I decided to cut into my precious Kaffe's.  I am just showing a bit of a NYB.. So much fun.
