"Dutch Stars"

I chose this pattern for a few reasons. I love the Ohio Star pattern. I love scrappy quilts. I wanted to be able to showcase the wonderful Dutch fabrics that my sister, who lives in Holland, sent me for Christmas 2006.
All the dark colours are from Den Haan & Wagenmakers B.V. in Amsterdam. They were a fat quarter pack. The light colours are tone-on-tone creams. One large star and one small star shared the same two fabrics only transposed. The pattern is called "Random Ohio Stars" and I found it on the website "quiltville". An awesome site for scappy quilters. I renamed my version and called it "Dutch Stars".
I found the border fabric at Avonport Discount Fabrics . It was as close as I could find to satify what I wanted for the border. I would have loved to have been able to afford to purchase the border print from Amsterdam. This quilt top turned out just as I wanted and I love it. It will always remind me of my sweet sister when I look at it.
The top was assembled in October 2007 and now is ready for the handquilting. I will get to that very soon, I hope (gotta finish Mike`s quilt first!)
